Apple Preparing to Launch Triple-Fold iPhone, Patent Gives Indication

American devices maker Apple plans to launch a foldable smartphone. For this the company has filed some patent applications. However, information about the launch date of this smartphone has not been received. Recently Apple has updated an old patent. This patent could be for a tri-fold smartphone.

This was filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). patent The title is ‘Electronics Devices with Display and Touch Sensor Structures’. Earlier, touch sensor structures were shown inside the display, but Apple has expanded the scope of this patent by making many changes in it. Patently Apple has looked at this patent. In this, the outer display has been combined with a large internal display panel. This patent also has another display panel along with the outer display. The new structure of this smartphone is indicating a triple fold design.

This is similar to Chinese electronics company Huawei’s recently launched triple fold smartphone Mate XT, in which the central layer is hidden when folded. Its outer display is visible in both folded and unfolded positions. This patent application of Apple states that the technology will add touch sensor structures to each display wall and each display will collect and process touch input separately. Last month, a report suggested that a clamshell-style foldable smartphone could be brought with Apple’s iPhone 18 series. This could be a hybrid model of iPad and MacBook. When unfolded, an 18.8-inch screen can be found.

The screen of Huawei’s Mate XT is 10.2 inches (3,184 x 2,232 pixels) when unfolded. The flexible LTPO OLED screen of this smartphone is 7.9 inches (2,048 x 2,232 pixels) when folded once and 6.4 inches (1,008 x 2,232 pixels) when folded the second time. It has a 50-megapixel camera on the outside with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an aperture between f/1.2 and f/4.0. The smartphone sports a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 5.5x optical zoom and f/3.4 aperture.
