Google Starts Manufacturing of Pixel 8 in India, Pixel 9 Series to be Launch Today

American technology company Google has started manufacturing Pixel 8 in the country. This smartphone was launched in October last year. At the Google for India event, the company’s Senior Vice President (Devices and Services), Rick Osterloh, had said that Pixel 8 will be assembled in India in 2024. However, only selected variants of Pixel 8 are being assembled in the country.

In a post on social media platform company The company’s unit has confirmed that the assembly of Pixel 8 has started. This series includes Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and the recently launched Pixel 8a. However, TechCrunch reports that Google has started manufacturing only the base model of this series, Pixel 8, in the country. It has been said in this report that the company’s international manufacturing unit Compal has partnered with Dixon Technologies for this. The initial capacity of its factory is about one lakh units monthly. Out of this, about 30 percent will be exported.

The upcoming Pixel 9 series will be launched at the Made by Google event on Tuesday. This smartphone series is to be launched in India on Wednesday. It is not known whether the manufacturing of Pixel 8 in the country will affect its pricing or not. The starting price of Pixel 8 is Rs 75,999. It is available in storage options of 128 GB and 256 GB. This smartphone is sold through e-commerce site Flipkart. The company’s Pixel 9 series can also be sold at retail stores like Croma and Reliance Digital.

Recently, French website Dealabs had leaked the promotional offers available on the launch of Google’s Pixel 9 series. It had told that in France, customers purchasing 256 GB variants of these smartphones between August 13 and September 5 can get the same price as the 128 GB variants. Apart from this, customers can also be provided a trade-in bonus of 150 Euros on Pixel 9, 200 Euros on Pixel 9 Pro and 200 Euros on Pixel 9 Pro XL on exchanging their old mobile.
